Brief Introduction on Defland Farm

Located in Bouai Vil., Heping Dist., Taichung City, Defland Farm is mainly divided into three zones of Songhe Tribe, Lilang Tribe, and Basianshan Tea Zone, with total area of hectares and altitude ranging from 600 to 1,200 meters. Atayal People and Han People account for half of the population respectively. The primary crops include tangerine, orange, peach, pear, plum, persimmon, mushroom, black tea, and seasonal vegetables, etc. Aquatic products include trout and Chinese sturgeon. In the wooden living quarters of Songhe Tribe, there is a block of houses made of cypress (which were used as staff dormitory of Forestry Bureau). “Basianshan” was one of the three major wooden quarters in Taiwan during Japanese occupation period, which is now the most complete historical trace for that period. With Sekayu Waterfalls, which is composed of 7 waterfalls as well as Pine Trails of Four Warriors, Lilang Tribe possesses rich resources for tourism. T’ang-ma-tan Trails, one of the Seven Mountains in the Valley, connect Songhe Tribe and Lilang Tribe.
